FUTHARK

To the human being, but the art aims to express which is beyond the human being. It is intuition. It is the pure expression of that incomprehensible power which works universally and which we can therefore call the universal.

There is the smell of varnish heavy in the air when I wipe the canvas with the sponge, without hope that with the movement my thoughts will pass. Thoughts that are directed only to the next work, or to what this work wants to be created for.

I am surrounded by paintings that claim to want to express something beyond human being.

Pictures that scream louder for a frame than for the public.

Opposed to them is the call of an artist who feels with her pictures and yet is only human.

I am on a journey of which I cannot yet tell you where it will end.

It began at a point where light and shadow, like wildly danced around the bet.

There springs a bridge, which touches the ground of the facts only this side.

For me, the runes are among the most fascinating legacies of European history. Skeptical, yet unbiased, I have explored their evocative properties for more than twenty years.

However, the prejudices that I have encountered in recent years have led me to preface this work with one that is as decorative as possible. Therefore, in the spring of this year, I interrupted my work on FUTHARK.

It is of fundamental importance to me that the statement I will make with my complete artistic work is more scientific than spiritual.

As in the work on FUTHARK, I leave the choice of subjects to the canvas...
